2009 World Series Confirmed at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit
The UK round of the 2009 World Series by Renault has been confirmed at the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit. The World Series is a free motorsport festival that is a mix of on-track racing and Formula One demonstrations, as well as off-track family activities. The Circuit in Northamptonshire will be host to the the festival on the 4th and 5th of July 2009, two weeks after the British Grand Prix.
Renault’s World Series is a major event on the British motorsport calendar and boasts of six-figure attendance records that are second only to the British Grand Prix. Top level international racing is the main event of the festival, but demos by the ING Renault F1 Team are the most awaited feature for thousands who attend the World Series. Fans get a chance to get autographs from their favourite Formula One drivers and see real F1 racing cars up close.
During the festival, fans will see races from the Formula Renault 3.5 and 2.0 single-seater cars for the Eurocup Megane Trophy. Top flight British motorsport is also on show via the ELF Renault Clio Cup and Formula Renault UK Championship—featuring back-to-back F1 world champions Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton.
Off-track entertainment during the event includes race simulators, road-car safety demos, an exhibit of the latest Renault models and a range of ING Renault F1 Team and Renault Sport merchandise kiosks.
