Ahmadinejad old car sells for $2.5 Million

We reported a while back that Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had decided to sell his 1977 Peugeot 504 in auction to the highest bidder.

The authoritarian ruler hoped to cash in on people who have a curiosity about famous people’s possessions to raise cash for the building of 60000 homes for the disabled and single-parent families, thus proving to the world what a kind hearted guy he is afterall.

According to MSNBC, the car was so popular that it went under the hammer for $2.5 million. While the buyer has been kept a secret (all that we know is that he is a he, and Iranian), the website on which the vehicle was sold claims that interest in the car was global.

Taking a look at the car suggests that it’s not, without that presidential association, by any means worth the money. Meaning the Iranian premier has managed to pull a fast one and look generous at the same time. Good work.
