Aston Martin at 2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show
Aston Martin is using the 2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show to give us a glimpse into their future with the CC100 Speedster Concept and to celebrate the first 100 years of Aston Martin. The CC100 has actually been created to mark the firm’s century and give an indication of the design language the Gaydon-based company will adopt in the future.
The CC100 is powered by a 6.0 litre V12 attached to a six-speed sequential gearbox. Aston is claiming a 180mph top speed and a 0-62mph time of just over 4.0 seconds. Inspiration has been taken from the past as the styling is based on the 1950s DBR1 but the car uses the British firm’s VH platform, which is used on all current Astons with the exception of the One-77 and the Cygnet. Although the CC100 is drawing a lot of attention, the centre stage at the Frankfurt event has been taken by a collection of sports cars including the V12 Vantage S and the Vanquish Volante. At the event, Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez said “The Vanquish Volante is automotive art and exhilarating GT luxury combined, while the V12 Vantage S shows the sporting heart of the brand beats more powerfully than ever.”
Each model on the stand is contributing to the firm’s centenary celebrations, about which Dr Ulrich Bez said, “Our centenary celebrations highlight the rich history of this exceptional sports car company. Centenary events in Dubai, Shanghai, the Far East, Pebble Beach in the US, the UK and right across Western Europe – including the Nurburgring – have celebrated the remarkable Aston Martin story so far.”
Aston Martin showrooms around the world will begin to showcase the 565bhp V12 Vantage S in a matter of weeks. The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante will also appear in Aston dealerships very shortly.
