Audi’s new A1 quattro

Audi has confirmed that it plans to build a robust all-wheel version of its A1 by testing the development version in the Montreal snow.

The development model of the car was revealed during a ‘Fascination of quattro’ event, celebrating the history of Audi quattros, in the Canadian city.

The A1 quattro wil have a multi-plate clutch located in front of the rear axle that’s electronically controlled and hydraulically actuated to optimise weight distribution.

Audi is yet to reveal the engine used in the development model, and a launch date for the A1 quattro is still a long way off. But when it is finally launched it will mean that every Audi in its range will have a quattro drivetrain as an option.

Which surely cannot be a bad thing.
