You don’t see many of the classic British car brands these days. You know, your Aston Martins, Bentleys, Bristols, Jaguars and your Rileys. That’s because a lot of them seem to be in Australia! All the aforementioned classic motor vehicles will go under the hammer at Shannons Melbourne Autumn Classic Auction on March 7.
The Great Britons auction will include 42 cars as well as 23 items of memorabilia such as historic petrol pumps and enamel garage signs, a child’s pedal car and even a Harrod’s Picnic Basket Set.
Some of these beauties will be sold without reserve. One of the finest on offer is a 1931 Bentley 4-Litre that has been in Australia for over 40 years - expected to sell for around AU$150,000 - AU$180,000.
Another ’great’ up for grabs is a Meteorite Grey 2005 Aston Martin DB9 coupe, which was imported from England in 2009.
’It’s been a long time since we have had such a great selection of classic British brands for sale,’ said Shannons National Auction Manager Christophe Boribon, ’particularly so many with no reserve price.’
