BMW is releasing an “Adventure” version of its popular mid-weight F 800 GS.
La new F 800 GS Adventure will continue the success of the German manufacturer as producers of long distance off road adventure bikes like their best selling R 1200 GS
F 800 GS 2013 model will be getting the Adventure treatment with a number of upgrades over the base model.
The Adventure still retains the liquid-cooled 798cc four-valve twin-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection of the base model, which produces a maximum power of 85 horsepower at 7,500 rpm, and maximum torque of 61 ft. lbs. mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The tubular rear steel subframe had to reinforced in order to feature a larger fuel tank that can now carry 24 liters (8 more than the F800GS) which will extend the bike's range by 75 miles.
It will also feature a larger windscreen, a taller seat, hand guards, reinforced foot brake lever, wide enduro footpegs, engine protection bar and a pannier rack.
The new F800GS also comes with standard ABS and a number of factory-fitted optional extras, including Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) and Automatic Stability Control (ASC) which will feature an Enduro mode which optimizes ASC traction control and ABS on loose surfaces.
The F 800 GS Adventure will be available in two colors– Sandover Matte and Racing Red.The first release of the F 800 GS Adventure will be a 1000 unit Launch Edition, which features Sandrover Matte paintwork in combination with three equipment packages:
- - the Comfort package comprises an onboard computer, heated grips and a centre stand;
- - the Enduro package comes with ASC plus Enduro mode;
- - the Special accessories package features a lockable aluminium case set, a topcase holder and BMW Motorrad Navigator Adventure including holder and cable.
BMW has yet to release pricing, but expect to pay several thousands more for this updated version.
