BMW to officially launch C Evolution maxi scooter at 2013 IAA Motor Show
BMW Motorrad has announced the official date for the launch of the C Evolution, the company’s electric maxi scooter.
The maxi e-scooter that BMW says will 'address issues of individual single-track mobility and future customer needs’ and will officially debut at the IAA (Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung) Motor Show in Frankfurt, on 10 September 2013.
The German manufacturer entered the urban mobility segment for the first time in 2012 with the C 650 GT and C 600 Sport maxi-scooters.
The BMW C Evolution e-scooter concept was first seen during the 2011 BMW Motorrad Innovation Day in its first development stage, and the manufacturer is now ready to release the highly awaited serial production version.
The new electric scooter will be built on the same platform as the company’s C-seriesand be based on the same technology used by the innovative BMW i3, with the same energy storage modules.
When the concept first appeared in its first stage it was said to have 35 kW peak output, an autonomy range of up 100 kilometers (60 miles) and a projected top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) and a short charging times, an intelligent recuperation in coasting mode and when braking and an ABS braking system, but these numbers could now be even better.
BMW Motorrad is currently posting motorcycle sales higher than the last year with the liquid-cooled R1200GS (that debuted in March 2013) spearheading their sales growth.
According to Heiner Faust, BMW’s Head of Sales and Marketing, the company will be launching, "No fewer than five new models will be unveiled to the public in the coming months."
So we can expect to see some interesting things from BMW in the upcoming Intermot and EICMA shows, including the return of newly designed BMW R 1200 RT that has been spied several times over last several months.
