Car auction raises £20m

Ever been to a car auction? If so, we imagine it wasn’t like the the sale at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. Instead of wathes of people scrabbling over used vehicles that have seen better days, it was all glamour, and glitz, and … yes, you’ve guessed it, money.

Total proceeds raised reaching almost £20min fact, and six cars made over a million Euros each. One car, a 1955 Ferrari 375 MM Berlinetta, went under the hammer for £2.91m!

If you were unable to get to Lake Como for the sale (Ryanair, as far as we’re aware, does not cover that destination) there’s a second chance to get in on the action as RM Auctions, the firm responsible for the auction, is to hold another one on the Syon Park estate in West London.

But don’t turn up if you think you’ll be able to pick up a bargain Ford Focus. Buyers will have range of classic Aston Martins, Bentleys and Rolls Royces to choose from. It’s on 23 June!
