Introducing the Citroen C4 Cactus 2014
The Citroen Cactus first appeared as a concept car at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Cactus is no longer a concept car. Citroen has announced the car will go into full production this summer 2014 branded Citroen C4 Cactus. Designed to appeal to those who want a stylish, modern family hatchback, the C4 Cactus promises more flair than the Ford Focus or VW Golf.
The Citroen C4 Cactus 2014 is designed halfway between a small SUV and a regular hatchback similar to the Nissan Qashqai. Its distinctive design features include a raised driving position, ultra-slim headlights and comparatively thin side glass. The French car maker Citroen says the relatively thin side glass has enough heat resisting properties to make the cabin feels airy and render a blind unnecessary.
Anoher talking point is the C4's lightweight construction, which includes use of high-strength steel for certain parts, single-piece rear seat, aluminium bonnet and pop-out rear windows that replace the more common electrically operated windows. This string of weight-saving measure ensures the C4 has impressive fuel economy and low CO2 emissions figures. The lightest version of the car weighs 965kg, while the heaviest weighs just 1,150kg.
C4 external & internal features
Inside, the C4 retains the same simple, sleek and clutter-free layout as the concept car with three interior colour themes. It has stylish workday plastics and a minimum of controls and switches on the inside. External features include ‘Airbumps,’ which is a coloured, textured rubber finish in parts of bumpers and doors. ‘Airbumps’ are standard and available in four colours: Black, Grey, Chocolate and Dune. Citroen says the exterior design is meant to resist minor scrapes and bumps that occur in car parks.
We are eagerly waiting to test drive the Citroen C4 Cactus 2014 when it finally hits show rooms here in the UK from autumn. Citroen says it will offer the C4 on a range of payment plans modeled on the mobile phone industry. You will be able to pay a fixed monthly rate that includes financing, insurance and servicing. The car is available in ten colours and pricing is likely to start at around £14,000.
