eBay motor cars - Avoid getting ripped off!

eBay motor cars, these very words strike terror into the hearts of those that have been stung online or a smug feeling in those that are spinning around in their dream motors for a fraction of the cost. Are there such a thing as online bargains? You better believe it, but like every positive, there is always a possible negative.

As cars depreciate so quickly in value, buying a brand new car isn't as attractive in today's climate as it used to be. Also the high cost of insurance and road tax mean that many people are actually downsizing their vehicles to a more budget friendly version.

Preowned cars can either be a bargain buy or a bottomless pit of money and it's up to you to ensure that you make the wisest decision for you.One of the basic rules of thumb is that you always bring a mechanic with you when checking out and test driving a potential purchase. This by no means guarantees a perfect buy but it's definitely a step in the right direction and, speaking of rights, know them.

Check out if the car comes with any kind of warranty and service history. The more information you have, the safer you are. A lot of websites offer to track the history of any car for a small fee and that can tell you if the car still has finance owing on it, if it was crashed or even if it was used as a taxi and this information can prove invaluable in determining the cars true worth.

What could be negative about getting a dream car for a low cost? To put it succinctly, if it looks too good to be true then it probably is. Buying a car from a site such as eBay means that you may not even get the chance to test drive it. If the car looks good and its within a reasonable distance, contact the seller before you bid and go check it out...with a mechanic! Paypal covers online transactions in some instances but not all so don't bid on something that you know nothing about and may regret.
