With a population of over a 1 billion people, and only second to China, India is a business man’s idea of heaven. Crack that market and you’ll never have to work again.
With over populated cities such as Mumbai and New Delhi car manufactures have been itching to supply the locals with an affordable small car for years. General Motors, Volkswagen and Hyundai have already released their miniature motors into the wild over there and now car giant Ford has unveiled its first effort.
The Figo will be built in Southern Indian and will cost as little as $8,700 (£5,600) brand new, which for a new car seems a must-have bargain but compared to the already on-the-road Nano from Tata Motor it may be a little pricey. The aptly named Nano costs a mere $3,000 (£2,200).
It’s not known whether the Figo or Nano will come to these shores. Lets hope so, then there will be no excuse not to trade in that used car.
