Checking in With the Formula One Race Calendar for 2011

Although the Formula One race calendar for 2011 got off to a difficult start, things have been moving along as the teams continue to vie for position. F1 driver Vettel Sebastian, driving for team Red Bull in a Renault construct, continues to lead in the overall standings with 216 points.

Current Standings

Relative newcomer, Red Bull Racing continues to dominate the competition. Constuctor points stand at 355, while Red Bull F1 drivers Vettel and Webber lead in the driver standings in 1st and 2nd place. At the latest Grand Prix in Germany, Webber came in 3rd place, cutting team member Vettel’s lead to only 77 points.

The 60-lap circuit of Nürburgring in Germany was won by McLaren and Lewis Hamiliton. Fernando Alonso and Ferrari finished in second. Lewis Hamilton of McLaren-Mercedes also had the fastest lap at 1:34.302 in the 59th lap.

Coming Up in Hungary

Bruno Senna will be making his first appearance this season as he replaces Nick Heidfeld for the Renault team. Heidfeld was clipped by Sebstian Buemi at the German Grand Prix. Buemi has been fined with a five-place grid penalty. Team Lotus states that Jarno Trulli will be returning to drive. Whatever comes next, the remaining Formula One race calendar for 2011 promises to be exciting.
