Hamilton: we're getting better

Lewis Hamilton was quick to point out improvements in his car's performance at Nürburgring  compared with Silverstone, though he sees snatching pole position an unlikely prospect.

Looking on the bright side, he found that his car had stood up to the gruelling German track far better than it did at Silverstone, saying: 'On the long runs, we seem to be just two or three tenths adrift, and that's much better than in the previous race.'

But he was forced to confess that neither he nor his teammate Jenson Button look likely to be starting in pole with the car in its current shape. 'We can't find an immediate solution. We lack downforce. That' s the only thing that's stopping me and Jenson from posting similar times to the other drivers,' said the 2008 champ.

Meanwhile Red Bull and Ferrari are expected to be leading the way.

I think Ferrari and Red Bull will be very fast,' he said.

'We expect to be right behind them. We can achieve the greatest impact in the race, since we always seem to close the gap a bit, but in view of the changeable conditions and the cooler weather, we may be able to attack one of the Ferraris or a Red Bull", the Brit added.
