When a car manufacturer delves into the supercar market it often comes with a heavy price - and we’re not talking about the take home price tag. The Jaguar XJ220 was a one off for class act Jaguar and as well as its unique take on the open viewed rear engine, it was also frigging quick. Ever since then, however, any new Jag is compared to that landmark – some say unfairly.
The Jaguar XJ 3.0, their latest model, has everything you expect from Jaguar: an instantly recognisable chasis, an almost incomparable safety record, controllable handling and a luxurious interior. But the new one has a sportier, sleeker feel to it, thanks to its body and its upped acceleration of 0-60mph in under 6 seconds. There’s also a Supersport version which tops that in 4.7 seconds.
Yes it sounds too good too be true. But surely it’s now worth its £100,00 price tag? You’re right, that’s why it’s only £60,185. Maybe time to trade in the old Beemer or Merc we think.
