Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse Live at 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show
Lamborghini is using the 2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show to introduce the latest version of the Gallardo to the public. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse is the Italian firm’s most extreme track-focused machine. It’s based on the Super Trofeo racing car which is produced for competition in three continental championships.
As with the Super Trofeo version, this new Squadra Corse uses the underpinnings of the Gallardo Superleggera. It’s all-wheel drive and takes its power from a V10 that develops 570bhp that's channelled through a six-speed paddle-shift gearbox. The result is an impressive 0-62mph of 3.4 seconds, a 0-124mph time of 10.4 seconds and a top speed in excess of 200mph. Lamborghini has lowered the car’s weight by 70 kg, so this version weighs 1,340 kg, which amounts to a power to weight ratio of 2.35 kg per hp, and there are carbon-ceramic brakes which guarantee unbeatable stopping power whether it's taken to the road or track.
The car’s exterior look has been designed to reflect its performance so there are decal strips along each flank in the colours of the Italian flag, green, white and red. The base colour behind these strips can be Grigio Thalasso (grey), Giallo Midas (yellow), Bianco Monocerus (white) or Rosso Mars (red). The large rear wing’s matte black contrasts with whichever colour the Squadra Corse is bought in, as do the front intake, rear diffuser and the 19-inch wheels, all of which are presented in the same matte black finish. The brake callipers offer another contrast as they can be taken in yellow, black or red.
Inside, the cabin is minimalist but it’s lined with Alcantara, and carbon fibre inserts are used on the centre console, the steering wheel and handbrake frame. Racing bucket seats are standard but more comfortable seats can be ordered in their place.
