McNish is up for Silverstone

Following his spectacular crash at this year's Le Mans 24 Hour race, Allan McNish has it all to prove at the Autosports 6 Hours of Silverstone next weekend (9-11 September).

Three-time winner McNish will drive the diesel Audi R18 alongside the eight-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen. Talking about the race, McNish said: 'The goal is clearly to win, we need to get some more points for the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup to keep in the fight and I personally would like a fourth Silverstone victory.

'The battle with Peugeot is always fierce and that is the way it should be, two big teams wanting to win. Sometimes there have been some incidents which put our car out of contention of a win, but that is often just ‘racing’ when the difference between winning and losing big races is measured in seconds.'

Billed as the most prestigious sports car race in Britain, the Autosports 6 Hours of Silverstone will feature homegrown talent and field of 45 cars, including Aston Martin, Audi, Porsche, Peugeot and Ferrari.

Among the British talent will be the former 'Stig' Ben Collins, who will be driving an HPD ARX coupe.
