The very cute Nissan Figaro

The Nissan Figaro is an epic car. It was described on Top Gear as a "Labrador puppy on wheels". It looks like a car designed in the 50s or 60s but was actually introduced to the world at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show. It is one of the cutest cars you will see on the road.

Whenever a Nissan Figaro passes us by, it always puts a smile on our face. These cute cars were made in four colours to represent the seasons: blue, green, topaz and grey. You may also see pink or black Figaros, but these have been repainted.

The exterior of the cars is very 60s, but the interior is much more modern and practical. It has the technology of the 90s, having a CD player, electric windows, AC, power steering and more. The white interior looks great and suits the feel of the car. It is an easy car to drive and won't cost a fortune to run on tax or fuel.

Performance isn’t the strongest point, so if you want a car that drives fast and sounds like a beast doing it, the Figaro isn't for you. This is a car that suits nice country drives and for making other motorists jealous - most people that see one want it!

There were only 20,000 Nissan Figaros ever made, so with owning one comes a certain level of exclusivity. Celebrity owners include Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen, Eric Clapton and Vanessa Feltz (celebrity status perhaps a bit of a stretch there).

There are, however, a few downsides to owning a Nissan Figaro.

Getting spare parts can be a nightmare as they are hard to come by. There are a few places that offer parts but you may have to pay high prices.

Figaros sell for around £4,000 to £9,000, but be careful when buying one. These cars are over 20 years old and even if they were well looked after, time could have taken its toll. To find one in very good condition is difficult and they are usually priced to show it.

If you want a car that is different and as cute as the original Fiat 500, the Nissan Figaro should definitely be considered.
