Price of Polo to rise from Jan 2011

If you’re thinking about buying a Volkswagen Polo soon, we’d suggest you do it before the year’s out - as Europe’s largest car maker plans to raise the price of its iconic vehicle by 2.9 per cent, effective from 1 January 2011.

The similar increase in raw material prices has been cited as the cause. Neeraj Garg, Member of board and director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said:

‘We have been facing with constant rise in input cost over the past several months and have tried our best to absorb it. However, in order to continue maintaining our quality standards that our customers expect from us we have had to increase the price by a small percentage.’

He added: ‘Customers, who book Polo until December 31, 2010, will be able to avail their favourite car at the present prices.’

The Polo was launched in India in March 2010 and as of November 2010 had already sold more than 17,000 vehicles.
