Roll out the Royce

Posh car makers Rolls-Royce are will unveil in Geneva next week a battery-powered Phantom model, code-named 102EX, which it says will be ‘crucial in forming future decisions on alternative powertrains.’

Owners, enthusiasts and everyday people will be asked to test drive the 102EX and give their opinions.

‘We have to be convinced any future alternative drivetrain delivers an authentic Rolls-Royce experience,’ says Rolls CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos. ‘We must choose technology that is right for our customers and brand, which puts us on a sound footing for a sustainable future.’

The launch comes after a promise made by former CEO Tom Purves two years ago by that the near-silence of electric power and the fact that full torque from standstill is possible in electric cars, would be the perfect fit with Rolls’ values.
