An elderly couple who drove into the side of a church in Germany claim they were just following the instructions of their Satelite Navigation Unit, Metro reports.
The 74-year-old driver and his wife spent the night in hospital with minor injuries after their SatNav unit developed a fault and instructed them to turn right.
Although there was no road, the couple made the turning and soon found themselves in a collision with a rural church on the Austrian border.
The pair wrote off their Renault car and caused £21,500 of damage to the church.
A police spokesperson from the town of Immenstadt nearby described the couple as ‘confused.’
‘They didn’t notice that the navigation system was faulty,’ she added.
