Schumacher stays for 2012

Michael Schumacher's manager has insisted that the seven times world champion will be staying at Mercedes for the 2012 season.

Schumacher put in a fine performance in Canada, but only managed a lowly 17th in Valencia, fanning the flames of rumours on the 42-year-old's future.

At the Spanish venue, Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn suggested that Schumacher's contract covered 2010, 2011 and with only an option for 2012.

But Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm subsequently quashed speculation by saying: 'The interpretation that has been applied is wrong,' adding: 'Michael's contract for 2012 is secure, he has a three-year contract.'

Mercedes' motor racing vice-president Norbert Haug commented: 'Michael has said it himself that he has signed a three-year contract with Mercedes GP, and I acknowledge that.'

As you were then. Schumacher stays for 2012. Let's hope that he can at least make the podium once during that time.
