Sky/VR46 Moto3 team livery presented during X-Factor Italy
Valentino Rossi is one of the richest athletes in the world - he ranked 51st on Forbes list of the top 100 highest paid athletesin 2013 – which gives the Doctor certain, shall we say advantages and benefits.
Rossi isn’t considered just one the legends of motorcycle racing with his nine World titles, but he is also a huge media personality and is still a sponsor magnet.
However the Italian seems to preparing for his future retirement by training young Italian talents through his academy at his motoranch La Biscia near Tavullia.
He is also backing a Moto3 team next season along with Sky Italy which will run under the SKY/VR46 banner.
The squad will be fielding Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia and Romano Fenati on highly competitive KTM machinery, with Ducati’s former team manager Vittoriano Guareschi and Rossano Brazzi running the squad.
Since Sky Italy, who will be broadcasting the MotoGP championship next season, is one of the co-sponsors of the squad they presented the team’s livery during the finale of Italy’s X-Factor, one of the most popular shows on the satellite channel.
On hand to present the new livery, wasn’t Rossi, Guareschi or the riders, but former three-time World champion Loris Capirossi.
Capirossi retired from racing at the end of 2011 and then worked for two years as one of Dorna’s safety advisors, and in 2014 he’ll be the MotoGP technical commentator for Sky Italy, so the synergy between the satellite network and the squad is becoming more and more apparent.
The Sky/VR46 team livery is very cool looking, but strangely enough does not feature any of Rossi’s trademark yellow.
The KTM RC 250 GP bike features principally a carbon black livery with bright blue accents and the Sky and VR46 logos.
Bagnaia and Fenati will have to wait for February 10th to return to action when the first official 2014 Moto3 tests take place at Valencia.
